Tour Activity Level: Easy (driving tour – alighting the bus in public areas – weather permitting)

Tour Schedule: Public Working Port Tours are scheduled on the second Saturday of every month from 10:30 am to 1:00 pm

Tour Highlights

  • Kick things off at the Visitor Centre for an introduction, then hop on the tour bus with a quick stop at Greenhouse Park to get a bird’s-eye view of the port.
  • Check out the Inner Harbour, home to major operations like the Port Kembla Coal Terminal (NSW’s second largest), Grain Terminals, the state’s biggest motor vehicle import hub, and the cruise ship berth—key to supporting industries like automotive, mining, agriculture, manufacturing, and construction.
  • Get a glimpse of the Steelworks and hear about the steel industry.
  • Visit the Outer Harbour, with a stop at Christy Dr for fantastic views of the Inner Harbour.
  • Wrap up the tour at Hill 60, where you’ll enjoy panoramic views of the Illawarra coastline and Lake Illawarra.
